Suspect released after Polson Park closure

Man arrested for allegedly trying to sell railway flares released from custody

The man arrested for allegedly trying to sell railway flares, resulting in an hour-long closure of Polson Park Tuesday, has been released from custody.

An 18-year-old man was arrested by Vernon RCMP after they received a report of a man trying to sell dynamite in the park.

The report resulted in police closing off and evacuating the park for precautionary purposes while they investigated.

A bag containing four old railway flares was found by RCMP.

The man told police he found the bag along the railway tracks.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk said police are contemplating recommending a charge to Crown counsel against the man, but are not sure if Crown will proceed with the charge.
