Police are searching for a man suspected of an indecent act in a Nanaimo thrift store.
The victim, 37, was shopping in a thrift store at 4286 Departure Bay Rd. Monday just before 3 p.m. when the woman commented about a vase she was looking at to a man nearby.
Police said the man was standing close to her and when she looked away she felt him rubbing up against her. She moved quickly to get away from the man, but when she looked back she saw the man staring at her with his hand down his pants and masturbating.
The suspect left the store a few minutes later and drove away in a black Ford F150 pickup.
The woman gave police the truck’s licence plate number, which was registered to an owner in south Nanaimo, but the suspect did not return to the residence overnight.
Const. Gary O’Brien said police are confident they will arrest the suspect within the next few days and if they do not, they will issue a warrant for his arrest.
The suspect is Caucasian, in his 30s with short brown hair. He was wearing a cream-coloured, long-sleeve shirt with two blue stripes down each arm and baggy blue jeans.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-22-8477 or online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
