On Feb. 4 the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a home invasion, on Doyle Rd., in Black Creek. Several RCMP officers attended the scene and set up containment in the area.
The investigation revealed that a suspect had attended a residence, assaulted the homeowner, threatened him, and forced him to open a gun locker. Three handguns, three rifles, as well as two firearm barrels and ammunition were stolen. The suspect then fled on foot.
An extensive search of the area was conducted with the assistance of the police dog service and RCMP air services. The track was lost near the intersection of Doyle Rd. and Islak Rd., where it is believed the suspect got into a vehicle and fled.
“It is paramount that we get these weapons off the street,” stated Comox Valley detachment Commander Tim Walton.
