RCMP are pursing two suspects after an alleged assault of a 19-year-old woman in Lake Country.
On Wednesday at about 4 p.m., officers received a report of an assault near the Beaver Lake Resort.
“Two local men were driving a stolen green Jeep Cherokee when they picked up two female acquaintances,” said Cst. Kris Clark.
“The four of them headed out to Beaver Lake Resort where they got stuck. A Lake Country man left to get help and an argument ensued between the remaining man and the two women.”
A Kelowna man then allegedly assaulted one of the women before taking off in the stolen Jeep.
The 19-year-old victim was knocked unconscious but suffered minor injuries. Her 18-year-old friend was uninjured.
Officers, as well as a helicopter and the canine unit, searched the area for the men.
“Both men were able to evade police and abandoned the vehicle in a residential area just off Highway 97, south of Beaver Lake Road,” said Clark.
Both men are well known to police and a warrant will be sought for their arrest.
A 23-year-old Lake Country man is facing potential charges of failure to comply with probation and possession of stolen property.
A 23-year-old Kelowna man is facing possible charges of assault with a weapon, driving while disqualified, possession of stolen property and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
