Taxi driver taken to hospital after crashing cab into utility pole

Accident happened Thursday afternoon on Big Bear Ridge

A taxi driver was taken to hospital after crashing his cab into a utility pole in Nanaimo’s Wellington area this afternoon.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue and B.C. Ambulance Service were called to the 5500 block of Big Bear Ridge on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., where a taxi had gone off the road and crashed.

The driver’s injuries were unknown but non-life-threatening.
