Teck digs deep for local health

The company announced a $250,000 donation

  • Dec. 17, 2020 12:00 a.m.

In the spirit of the Christmas season, Teck has written a particularly fat cheque to local health organizations.

The major Elk Valley employer has donated $50 on behalf of every employee at its extensive steelmaking coal operations – or $250,000.

The money will go to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation “to support their work improving health outcomes.”

‘We recognize the challenges that local organizations are facing due to COVID-19 and in the spirit of the holiday season we’re pleased to provide this support in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Teck’s Robin Sheremeta, who is senior vice president of the company’s coal division.
