Police in Nanaimo are trying to track down two suspects who assaulted and robbed several teens on the weekend.

The incident happened at Woodlands Secondary School shortly after midnight Sunday. The  teens – three males and two females aged 17-19 – were sitting outside the school talking when two men, who looked to be in their late 20s, approached.

The two parties struck up a conversation, but when the suspects went to leave, one of the teens made a comment that caused the men to turn back. One of the suspects pushed one of the male teens to the ground and allegedly threatened him while holding a knife to his throat. The suspect then turned on one of the other male teens and punched him in the face multiple times. He also allegedly punched one of the girls in the face. The suspects then took the group’s purses and a wallet plus a white mountain bike and a packsack before they casually walked away from the scene.

The teens went to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, where they were treated for cuts and abrasions, and called the police.

The suspect who allegedly produced the knife is described as Caucasian in his mid to late 20s, tall, thin with blonde hair and was wearing a white tank top and dark cargo pants. The knife is described as long and silver. The second suspect is possibly Hispanic, with a dark complexion and he wore a tuque.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com.
