WATERING LAWNS and gardens is now restricted in Thornhill and North Terrace with Kitimat-Stikine regional district officials citing a need to conserve water in local systems as the hot and dry weather continues.

Residents of both areas can now only water once a week between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. or between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.

But hand-watering is allowed at any time.

Washing of building exteriors, driveways, vehicles, patios, and other hard landscape surface, as well as the filling or adding to swimming pools is prohibited.

Meanwhile, City of Terrace officials are reminding residents that water sprinkling is permitted on odd-numbered days for odd-numbered addresses and on even-numbered days for even-numbered addresses.

Officials cite the need to make sure there’s enough water in the system to fight fires if necessary.

Hand sprinkling of flowers and shrubs using a nozzle is allowed at any time.
