A Terrace, B.C. brewery who had asked council about adding a patio to its premises has applied to also increase the number of customers it can have at one time.
Sherwood Mountain Brewery applied to make changes so it can have 60 people on its premises, double its current allowed occupancy., said city planner Tara Irwin.
The application would also allow it to add a patio to its east and south sides.
Notice was given to businesses located nearby about the public hearing, held at council’s meeting last night, she said.
Terrace RCMP expressed concern with regards to security on the patio so Sherwood Mountain needs to have a solid plan for how it will monitor activity on its patio, added Irwin.
The city did limit the edge of the patio to the edge of the window so the extent of the patio can be seen through the window, said Irwin.
A patio at the location isn’t covered and the brewery doesn’t intend to fully cover it, she added.
Now that the city has received public opinion on the brewery’s application, city staff will come back with a report and a draft resolution for council to consider at an upcoming meeting, said Irwin.
It’s the provincial BC Liquor Control and Licensing Board who will make the final decision on the brewery’s proposed changes.
City council voted to receive the application for information.
