Terrace man killed in car crash

A car went off the road in Telkwa on Saturday night and wasn't discovered until the next morning.

The RCMP are still collecting information about a car accident that happened in Telkwa on the night of Saturday, April 12 killing a 35-year-old Terrace man and injuring another.

According to the RCMP release, the car wasn’t discovered until Sunday morning:

On April 13, 2014, at approximately 08:11 hrs, Smithers RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 16 in the community of Telkwa, BC.  Through investigation it is believed that the collision occurred around 22:00 hrs on April 12, 2014, but due to the location that the vehicle came to rest, it was not visible to the general public, and as such, was not reported until the next day.

The vehicle involved was a red 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix travelling westbound towards Smithers.  Upon arrival at the scene, it was confirmed that the passenger of the vehicle, a 35 year old Terrace resident was deceased.  The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.   Highway 16 was closed until 18:00 hrs for the investigation, with an effective detour route in place.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation by West Pacific Region Traffic Services, Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, and the BC Coroners Service.  If anyone has any information, please contact the Smithers RCMP Detachment.
