The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 113 calls for service from Friday April 20 to midnight Sunday April 22.
Below are some highlights from the weekend calls:
Mystery stabbing
A possible stabbing was reported behind a business on the 4600 block of Lakelse Avenue Friday afternoon.
Around 4:25 p.m., Terrace RCMP received an anonymous report of a possible stabbing; the caller could not be reached for more information.
Police attended, along with the Police Dog Services Unit, but no one was located.
Breach on the street
A woman passed out at the intersection of Kalum Street and Greig Avenue was found to be in breach of her release conditions.
On Friday April 20, around 4:30 p.m., police were conducting patrols downtown when a woman was observed lying on the sidewalk, sleeping near the intersection. Police checked on the woman, who was intoxicated and recognized to be breaching her no-consume alcohol conditions.
She was arrested, lodged in cells to sober up safely, and released on a Promise to Appear in court.
Man arrested for assaulting police officer
A fight between two people downtown led to a police officer being assaulted Friday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m. on April 20, 2018, Terrace RCMP received a report of two men fighting at the intersection of Kalum Street and Scott Avenue. Police arrived to find two people holding the aggressor down. The man proceeded to spit and threaten an officer present.
He was arrested for numerous offences, including drug possession and assaulting a police officer.
Fight turns into a breach
A fight on the 2600 block of Eby Street led to one person being arrested for breach.
On April 21, around 9:45 p.m., police received a report of a fight involving four to seven people. Officers attended the scene and were met by several intoxicated people, one of which had visible injuries. Two people were taken to hospital for assessment and were medically cleared.
A man was arrested for breaching his no-consume alcohol conditions.
In Terrace without permission
A call about a group of adults drinking on the 3100 block of Kalum led to a man being arrested for breach and obstruction.
Around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, April 22, Terrace RCMP received a report of a group of people drinking alcohol in the bushes near the train station. Police attended and spoke with the group members, who did not appear intoxicated. One of the group members was bound by conditions to not be in Terrace. He provided police with a false name and was subsequently arrested for breach and obstruction.
He was held for court.
Impaired driving
A man lost his license for 90 days following a traffic stop Sunday evening.
Around 6:40 p.m. on April 22, 2018, police stopped a vehicle on Greig Avenue near Sparks Street after it was observed driving slowly and in and out of its lane. Roadside breath tests were administered and registered a Fail, indicating the driver was exceeding .08 blood alcohol content.
He received a 30-day vehicle impound and 90-day driving prohibition under the Motor Vehicle Act.
Domestics
Police received four reports of domestic disturbances over the weekend.
The reports included a threats and an assault file, both under investigation, as well as a verbal domestic in which parties were separated. One man was arrested for assault and breach.
Disturbance calls
Of the 113 calls for service received Friday morning to midnight Sunday, approximately 33 were related to disturbances.
Calls were received for the 4600 block of Keith Avenue, the 4600 block of Park Avenue, the 4300 and 4700 block of Lakelse Avenue, the 2800 block of Hall Street, 2600 block of Pear Street, 4500 block of Greig Avenue, the 4500 and 4700 block of Scott Avenue, the 3100 block of Kalum Street, and other locations.
The calls resulted in 15 people being arrested and held in cells to sober up safely.
