A Terrace RCMP member tasered a woman who was using a metal pipe to attack a man in the early hours of July 23.
Police responded to call at the 4600 block of Lakelse Ave. around 2:40 a.m. and observed the woman attack and chase the man, according to a Terrace RCMP press release.
Officers drew their weapons and told the woman to drop the pipe because she was under arrest, but she did not comply.
One officer used his taser — or “conductive energy weapon,” in RCMP terminology — on the woman, and the RCMP were able to disarm and arrest her.
The woman was taken to hospital for medical evaluation and then she was taken to RCMP holding cells to “sober up safely,” the press release said. She was released on an undertaking for assault with a weapon and a court date.
“This is a situation that could have easily had a different ending for the woman, the man she was attacking, and the responding officers,” said Staff Sergeant Michael Robinson in the press release.
