The Terrace Walmart was evacuated Wednesday morning Jan. 15 due to a large water leak in the ceiling that flooded the main entrance.
At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Jan. 15, the Terrace Fire Department responded to the call along Hwy16 following a report of flooding and activated fire alarms.
Crews deactivated the sprinklers and pulled down the ceiling to find the water source, caused by a leaking sprinkler pipe in the ceiling area, according to Terrace fire captain Jeffrey Minhinnick in an email.

Twelve members of the fire department had attended the scene to deal with the situation.
During the investigation, traffic coming into the lot was notified of the closure as employees waited in their vehicles to return to work.
After the problem was identified, crews determined there were no further issues and the building was left in the hands of the property representative.
In an email to the Terrace Standard, the manager of corporate affairs for Walmart, Felicia Fefer, gave a statement regarding the incident.
“The safety of our associates and customers is a top priority at Walmart. We can confirm a pipe burst at the front of our Terrace store. The store was closed temporarily to carry out necessary clean-up and repairs,” she writes. “We apologize for any inconvenience this incident may have caused our valued customers.
Walmart reopened the following day on Jan. 16.
