Police described Sunday night’s weather conditions as “horrible” with snow, wind, rain and freezing temperatures.
Weather is believed to be a factor in two separate accidents that occurred five minutes apart on the Island Highway, just south of Stories Beach. A 32-year-old Campbell River woman was driving the white pickup that was heavily damaged after it went off the east side of the road and rolled into a wooded area. Then (pictured left), across the road, this Toyota car, driven by a 41-year-old Royston man, went into the west ditch. Both drivers escaped uninjured, according to Campbell River RCMP.
