Herman’s Hermits and front man Peter Noone will take the stage at the Charlie White Theatre later this month to play some of their greatest hits.
Noone, the lead of Herman’s Hermits who play such hits as I’m into something good, Mrs. Brown, you’ve got a lovely daughter and I’m Henry VIII, I am, will take the stage with his band on Saturday, Sept. 27 for two shows.
“We’ll be playing all of the Canadian Herman’s Hermits favourites,” said Noone in an interview with the PNR this week.
“It’s a fun show with lots of variety. It makes for a great family evening out.”
Noone began his musical career at the young age of 14.
“I was in a boy band then and I didn’t even know it,” he laughed.
The group played all over the world and sold over 60 million recordings. In all, 14 of their singles and seven of their albums went gold.
“It’s been a ride. I’ve never really felt like I had job being in show business,” Noone said.
The group, whose only two original members are Noone and the drummer Barry Whitwam, have had their best year ever.
“We’ve been on the road touring, seeing all the usual people like Tom Jones and Olivia Newton John. Before we come to Sidney we play in Vancouver and then afterwards we’re off to Las Vegas to play some shows.”
Noone said the show is usually tailored to the type of audience they play with.
“We often don’t prepare an exact show, we play it by ear depending on the audience and their reception of us. We’ve never had a bad show so it must work,” Noone laughed.
The shows take place Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 and 8 p.m. and tickets are $68.25. Call the Mary Winspear box office at 250-656-0275 or visit marywinspear.ca to reserve.
