Thief steals from Parksville elementary school’s earthquake preparedness kit

Flashlights, batteries, bags of rice stolen last month

A thief or thieves broke into a Parksville elementary school’s earthquake preparedness kit last month and stole food and other items.

A break, enter and theft at Springwood School earthquake container was reported on Nov. 20, according to an Oceanside RCMP press release. The break-and-enter happened sometime overnight. Items reported missing included yellow flashlights with ‘SES’ inscribed, batteries and some bags of rice.
