After a day of skiing on Baldy Mountain, Dayton Mitchener was driving down the mountain, on McKinney Road, when his vehicle hit a patch of ice and slid into a ditch on Dec. 27.

Mitchener went to get some help and when he returned to the vehicle, someone had stolen his personal belongings including skis from the vehicle, but most upsetting is they stole a bag with his dog’s collar in it, said his mom Natasha Rojas.

“The collar is very sentimental as his dog Gus recently died. He was killed by coyotes.”

“Dayton is still grieving his little buddy and would really appreciate it if whoever took the bag would return it with the collar,” said Rojas.

The bag is a black leather duffle bag and the collar is a tan coloured Carhartt brand collar.

This is Gus’ collar that was stolen from McKinney Road coming down Baldy Mountain on Dec. 27. Gus died recently and his collar holds sentimental value.

If anyone has any information or saw the vehicle on McKinney Road with any suspicious vehicles stopped, Natasha and Dayton ask that you contact them through Facebook.
