Third Avenue will be closed between Napier Street and Dunbar Street from Sept 29-Oct 3 due to the Dry Creek flood mitigation project.
“Bowerman Excavating will be installing a box culvert,” said city of Port Alberni engineer Guy Cicon, adding that the work needs to be completed before the rains begin in earnest.
Traffic will be detoured to Fourth Avenue, Cicon said. Access will still be available to Smitty’s Restaurant, Dairy Queen and West Coast Hemp.
“The city and [Bowerman Excavating] appreciate the public’s understanding of the inconvenience from this infrastructure improvement.”
As a reminder, Kingsway Avenue is also currently closed due to paving and water and sewer main replacements.
