The Nuxalk Nation was once again hosts to some big names as the third Dancing in the Light Conference took place in the Bella Coola Valley last week.

Special guests included Inuk singer Susan Aglukark, former NHL hockey player Theo Fleury, Ojibway/Metis comedian Ryan McMahon, Tracey Porteous, and BC Lions Will Loftus and JR Larose.

Melinda Mack, who has spearheaded the conference 2009 and 2010, said that she is now ready to step aside and let another community member take the reins.

“Other communities have followed the model and held their own conferences, such as Williams Lake and Chuchua,” said Mack. “I’m going to pass it on to someone else now.”

There were multiple events and workshops over the weekend, including a fashion show with Nuxalk designs and several interviews on Nuxalk Radio.
