1. As wave of wet weather comes our way from the coast places like Sooke on Vancouver Island will take the brunt of it. Just think of the rain here as the snow on the mountains we’ll be skiing on soon enough. It’s actually looking like a pretty nice day here. Around the time you’re waking up in Kelowna it’ll be about 7C, heating up to a balmy 14 by 2 p.m. with sun peaking out from behind clouds.
2. Speaking of skiing, have you switched to your winter tires. Oct. 1 was the date to have weather appropriate treads on your vehicle if you are going over mountain passes. When the temp in the Valley is dropping to 7C, yes that’s 7 above zero, it’s time to get your winter tires on.

5. On the sports scene, former Kelowna Rockets have gone on to have great pro hockey careers and the latest crop of graduates are no different. Look for Jamie Benn (Dallas), Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton), Mikael Backlund (Calgary) and Blake Comeau (Colorado) to contribute to their respective NHL teams.
