Police believe the same man is responsible for three business robberies on the same day earlier this week.
Abbotsford Police say a masked man armed with a can of bear spray robbed a business in the 2600 block of Gladys Ave. Tuesday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. Two hours later, around 4:30 p.m., a similar robbery took place at a restaurant in the 31200 block of Maclure Road. That evening, a third robbery took place at another restaurant, in the 31900 block of South Fraser Way.
During one of the incidents, some bear spray was deployed in a business, leading to “very minor” injuries to one employee, according to Abbotsford Police Const. Paul Walker.
Police say the similarities of the incidents lead them to believe the same person is responsible. The man wore a mask during all three robberies, but police have released an image of the man they believe to be the suspect, and who is believed to have entered one of the businesses the day before the robbery. The link was made because of a distinctive tattoo that appears to feature the letters ‘AC’ on the man’s neck.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, five-foot-six to five-foot-10, of average build and wearing dark clothing.
Police are also urging local businesses to be vigilant.
