Three people were taken to Campbell River hospital this morning following a head-on collision.
The accident occurred around 8 a.m. on South Island Highway near Barlow Road, just south of Rona.
According to Campbell River RCMP, a new model red Chevrolet car was northbound, crossed the double solid centre line and collided head-on with a white Subaru heading south.
Two males in the Chevy suffered leg injuries and were extricated by Campbell River firefighters and B.C. Ambulance paramedics. They were taken to Campbell River hospital, but the driver was then airlifted to Victoria for further treatment.
The female driver of the Subaru sustained a minor injury and was treated at Campbell River hospital.
The police investigation is continuing and so far no charges have been laid. Fatigue may be a factor in the accident.
