The three front runners in the NDP leadership race will all be in Langley on Friday, to debate issues in front of an audience of party and union members.
John Horgan, Adrian Dix and Mike Farnworth will be at the Steelworkers Hall, 9292 200 St., for a debate which starts at 9:30 a.m.
The meeting is open to NDP members, who will be selecting one of six candidates for leader by ballot on April 17. They are running to succeed Carole James, who resigned in December.
In the NDP leadership race, each member has a vote. However, members had to join by Jan. 17 in order to be eligible to cast a ballot.
The other three candidates for the leadership are Harry Lali, Nicholas Simons and Dana Larsen.
Following the debate, which will include questions from the audience, the three candidates will hold a closed-door meeting with members of the Steelworkers Union.
The union represents B.C. forestry workers, whose ranks have been decimated in recent years by mill closures and a severe downsizing of the forest industry.
The industry has been rocked by a series of factors including the pine beetle kill, raw log exports, changing forestry rules and a severe downturn in U.S. housing starts.
