Thunderstorms and hail are expected to impact the Elk Valley within the next 24 hours.
Environment Canada has issued the following Warning:
At 6:56 p.m. mountain time, Environment Canada meteorologists tracked a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail.
Thunderstorms will continue crossing southern portions of the Elk Valley this evening. Areas near Morrissey and the Flathead Valley can expect nickel size hail and the potential for strong wind gusts.
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. The anticipated heavy rain and hail may cause deteriorating road conditions and other road hazards, such as minor flooding and washouts; and high winds can cause downed tree branches & power lines, and other hazards.
