The Tigh-Na-Mara Toy Drive’s drive through, scheduled to take place Wednesday, Nov. 25 at the Parksville resort’s parking lot, has been cancelled.
A release from Blake Smith, marketing manager for Tigh-Na-Mara, read “as per Dr. Bonnie Henry’s latest public health order stating all events are on pause for the next two weeks, we will be cancelling the drive through.”
The release from Smith said Tigh-Na-Mara officials feel it would be in the best interest for the safety of the community to ‘play their part’ and do what they can to eliminate any form of gatherings.

Smith said: “A special thanks to those that have already donated the past month; we are excited to say we have received tremendous support from the community.”
The Toy Drive itself started on Nov. 2, and until Nov. 24 residents were able to bring a new, unwrapped toy, gift card or cash donation to Cedars Restaurant in Parksville.
And while the drive through event is officially cancelled, Tigh-Na-Mara will continue to accept any donations on behalf of the Society of Organized Services (SOS).
The annual Toy Drive benefits the SOS Caring for Community at Christmas program which ensures youth find a special gift under the tree at Christmas, and grocery store gift cards to families.
