It’s time to turn off the taps.
With the hot, dry weather, the city is reporting current water consumption is is 46 per cent greater than the five-year average for July.
“Due to the extreme dryness in the area the City is experiencing significant demand on their water system. The City of Salmon Arm requests that all residents try to conserve water where possible,” reads a public bulletin.
“The city requests that all residents try to conserve water where possible and to use this resource wisely.”
There are already sprinkling restrictions in place.
Sprinkling is allowed two days per week, as designated by your house number.
Those with addresses ending in the digits 00 – 33 can water Tuesday and Friday, 34 – 66 on Wednesday and Saturday only and 67 – 99 Thursday and Sunday only.
No sprinkling is allowed on Mondays or in between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Watering contrary to the bylaw can result in a fine of $50 per offence.
