The 2020-2029 Financial Plan budgeting process by City of Chilliwack is underway.
The survey on the Chilliwack budget went live Tuesday following the afternoon council meeting.
That means Chilliwack residents can offer their feedback to city council and help in pinpointing the spending priorities by completing the annual online survey.
The survey can completed at chilliwack.citizenbudget.com or by clicking the link at www.chilliwack.com/budget.
City of Chilliwack staff starts off the annual budgeting prep process by reviewing each area of city operations, identifying pressures, emerging needs or changing factors since the last financial plan was adopted by council.
Council has a mandate to balance and prioritize the needs of the community, while considering how to levy reasonable tax rates.
The first opportunity for citizen engagement came with the link for an online survey in the envelope with tax notices last spring.
Next is the online community engagement tool in the form of the latest survey, which will continue until the deadline of Nov. 15.
“This survey is similar to previous years and the responses will provide Council with input and feedback on
current service importance, prioritization and financial considerations as it develops the City’s 2020 Financial Plan,” according to the staff report in the Oct. 15 city council agenda package.
The survey can be filled in hard copy obtained from the finance department at city hall. See more at chilliwack.com/budget or email budget@chilliwack.com
