Thompson-Nicola Regional District board of directors announced June 23 that it had appointed the current TNRD director of finance, Sukh Gill, to be the next chief administrative officer. Effective Sept. 1, Gill will replace retiring CAO Greg Toma, who held the position since June 2006.
The appointment took place after a nationwide search that included over 50 candidates.
“I would like to thank the Board and appreciate this opportunity,” said Gill. “I’m looking forward to working with the board and staff to deliver services to the constituents of the regional district.”
Gill has been the director of finance with the TNRD since September, 1999, and the deputy administrator since 2008. Before that Gill was the director of finance with the City of Merritt. Gill has a bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, and is a chartered accountant. While working for the TNRD Gill has been involved in numerous projects including the North Kamloops, Barriere, Savona and Lytton Library buildings, the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Thompson Regional Hospital District, along with the operation of the Finance and Information Systems departments.
“We’re excited to have Mr. Gill take the organization to the next level,” said TNRD chair Peter Milobar. “We’re confident he is the best candidate to continue implementing the strategic vision and goals of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.”
