A day on the links has provided critical support for health care in the North Okanagan.
The fourth annual Charity Classic golf tournament attracted 128 participants to Predator Ridge Resort Sunday.
“It was a great day for everyone,” said Sue Beaudry, with the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
“When it was over, the event had netted more than $121,000.”
The funds will go towards the foundation’s $2.5 million fundraising goal to complete the two top floors in VJH’s Polson tower.
“We are grateful for the continued support of Predator Ridge and its members, and our title sponsor Kal Tire,” said Beaudry.
“This will certainly set the campaign on the right path to reach the campaign goal.”
Hole sponsors gave special attention to the golfers by offering fun, beverages and treats during the event.
“Golfers selected Armstrong’s Shepherd’s Home Hardware and Building Centre as their favorite hole,” said Beaudry.
“Golfers were swayed by the Mexican fiesta theme, complete with sombreros, fajitas and margaritas.”
Former LPGA pro A.J. Eathorne was the emcee for the event and she awarded $10,000 worth of prizes, donated by Predator Ridge, before dinner.
Besides Kal Tire and Predator Ridge, the other event sponsors were Wayside Press, Silver Star Mountain Resort, Graham Construction, Nixon Wenger, Stutters Disaster Kleenup, Capri Insurance, Kiss FM, Telus, Vernon Home Building Centre and Okanagan Spring Brewery.
