Flags in Princeton were lowered to half mast last week, as much of the world mourned the passing of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Mayor Spencer Coyne said the practice follows official protocol when a member of the British Royal Family dies.
“I believe it is very important to show respect not only for the position but for who he was. Price Phillip was more than just a Royal he was a war hero,” said Coyne.
“His role in the royal family is often overlooked as well. He was a strong supporter of youth development with the Duke of Edinburgh Award… The Prince was also known for his work in wildlife conservation. He was also a friend to Canada and our service men and women.
“He will be greatly missed by many, not only in England and Canada but across the British Commonwealth.”
The funeral for Prince Phillip takes place Saturday April 17, 7 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
