The District of Hope and the RCMP are holding a Town Hall meeting.

The meeting will be hosted by Staff Sergeant Karol Rehdner, the Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of Hope/Boston Bar. It will be held at the Hope Recreation Centre on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

All Hope residents are invited to take part. The last RCMP-led event in Hope was held at the Blue Moose, and called Coffee with Cop. That was packed with a mix of residents. Some were curious about policing in general, which was the intent of the meeting. However, many others who showed up had serious concerns with a perceived lack of policing in the area, a noticeable rise in property crime, and other issues relating to policing in Hope.

The room was packed and tensions were high, and some people left discouraged. After the meeting, some residents stated that a Town Hall format is necessary. While it’s unclear if the Coffee with a Cop event turnout is what has lead to the Town Hall meeting, it’s likely a good idea to arrive early for a seat.
