The Town of Golden has announced that they will be extending the deadline for payment for utility bills until April 30, 2020, to help alleviate some of the stress that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused.
The decision was a part of a series of changes to services and programming that also saw the town close all town owned facilities to the public effective March 18.
The changes were made after careful consideration and with the best interests of the community in mind, to better protect the health and well being of staff and residents, according to a statement from the town.
“The health and safety of our employees and the residents we serve and interact with is our number one priority,” said Mayor Ron Oszust.
“We are closing all Town of Golden facilities to the public to do our part in helping minimize the risk of transmission and the spread of Coronavirus in the community.”
Effective immediately Town Hall, the Rec Plex, the Fire Hall, Civic Centre, Seniors Centre and Public Works Facilities will be closed until further notice.
The town will continue to work and provide essential services based on its business continuity plan. This includes taking into consideration social distancing practices and allow those who can to work from home.
“We want to thank the community for their patience during this time,” said Jon Wilsgard, CAO for the town.”
Anyone with questions about town services during the closure, such as making payments, renewing dog or business licenses or applying for permits, are encouraged to reach out to the proper department via email, which can be found on the town’s website.
