Qualicum Beach will wait a little longer to hold a byelection to replace former councillor Adam Walker, who resigned after being elected as the new MLA for Parksville-Qualicum.

Town corporate administrator/deputy CAO Heather Svensen reported at the regular council meeting on Wednesday (Jan. 13) that they have discussed the date of the byelection with staff from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs.

The town has been advised to hold off on selecting a chief election officer until Coun. Robert Filmer returns from medical leave in February.
