A proposal to subdivide one of the last undeveloped infill areas in the Townline Hill area will go to public hearing in two weeks.
A developer hopes to build 61 single-family homes, while creating two zones for the potential building of a maximum of 70 townhouse units.
The site is located on the east side of Townline Road, directly south of Eugene Reimer middle school. Staff had recommended the city move the proposal to a public hearing in two weeks’ time.
On Monday, council agreed.
The proposal would also see a small public park located on the current site and a community stormwater detention area created.
The first phase would see the bulk of the single-family homes built and the area’s road network completed, with Rockhill Place pushed through to Firhill Drive.
A second phase in the future would see around a dozen more homes built, along with the construction of two townhouse complexes.
The proposal would also allow secondary suites to be built as part of the single-family homes, an aspect staff said would increase affordable housing options.
