Toy Mountain drive in Surrey collects more than 10,000 gifts for Salvation Army

A two-day toy drive collected more than 10,000 unwrapped toys and more than $76,000 in cash at Surrey’s Guildford Town Centre.

The annual Toy Mountain drive, benefitting the Salvation Army, collected 10,300 toys Thursday and Friday (Dec. 6 and 7) at the mall, and collected more than $76,600 in cash donations.

Personalties from a number of local TV and radio stations will be broadcasting from the mall during the drive, sponsored by Alpine Credits and Surrey Honda. Triple O’s also provided free breakfasts for anyone who donated to Toy Mountain.

This is the fifth year that Guildford mall has hosted the event.

Kyla Way, marketing director for Guildford Town Centre said the mall will still be collecting donations through to Dec. 23.

“If shoppers missed out on the opportunity to donate during Toy Mountain we will still be collecting unwrapped toys for the Surrey Christmas Bureau as well as matching shopping centre gift card donations until Dec 23,” Way said in an emailed release.
