Agassiz Fire crews were on scene Tuesday afternoon (July 23) dealing with a fire started by dry grass and a tractor’s hot exhaust pipe.
According to a neighbour, the fire started around 1 p.m. and the fire department arrived on scene about 15 minutes later.
Agassiz fire chief Gerald Basten said the fire was started when some hay became caught around the tractor’s hot exhaust pipe. It sparked a blaze which turned in to a 20 metre by 20 metre grass fire.
Fire crews were on scene for about half an hour dealing with the fire, which has since been put out.
