1 – ICBC announced that it will sue the parties responsible for the acid spills in Trail.
1 – Trail earned another five-bloom rating for Communities in Bloom judges at the annual awards in Strathcona, Alta. Teck Trail was also recognized for its environmental stewardship.
3 – Complaints regarding discarded drug paraphernalia, garbage and a makeshift shelter have drawn a variety of response from local officials including police and provincial ministries. No easy solution was offered but rather a joint effort by several branches to remedy the cause and situation.
4 – Visitors, patients and staff at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital will have to deal with increased traffic as construction on the $19-million emergency department begins.
11 – Two appraisers from Toronto were in town to put a value on the artifacts and archives at the Trail museum. The duo marveled at the museum’s collection of sports memorabilia and extensive Trail Times archives.
16 – The Endoscopy Campaign wrapped up at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital with the unveiling of a donor wall. The campaign finished on time and $50,000 over its $400,000 goal.
18 – A new 30-foot marquee was installed outside of The Bailey Theatre, the latest addition to the facility.
20 – New mayors for Trail (Lisa Pasin), Fruitvale (Steve Morissette) and Montrose (Mike Walsh) highlight the municipal elections. Diane Langman, in Warfield, was re-elected as mayor while Rossland’s Kathy Moore was acclaimed. As well, several local councils will see new faces.
23 – A break-in at the Lower Lookout Reservoir in Trail prompted a Water Quality Advisory for Columbia Heights. Subsequent water testing revealed no impact on the water source.
24 – A growing list of break-ins and property crimes plague Trail. Police cite the growing opioid epidemic as one of the causes.
25 – FortisBC is asking customers across the province to reduce their use of natural gas over the winter as the company deals with a pipeline rupture that impacted its supply.
30 – Silver City Stagelines began offering bus trips from Nelson to Kelowna to replace the departing Greyhound bus lines.
30 – Rotating strikes at Canada Post across Canada come to the West Kootenay as local union members walk the picket line.
