A weekend drug bust has a 59-year-old Trail woman facing drug-related charges.

According to a press release, the Trail RCMP Crime Reduction Team executed a search warrant on a Topping St. residence in the early morning hours of March 25.

Police located substances believed to be cocaine and fentanyl along with evidence of trafficking at the home.

“The amounts seized were not huge but enough to indicate the person was selling drugs rather than for personal use,” Sgt. Darren Oelke of the Trail and Greater District Detachment told the Trail Times.

He added that fentanyl is not new to Trail and is a drug that has led to related deaths in the region.

The woman, who was known to police, has been released from custody and scheduled to appear in Rossland Provincial Court on May 4.
