At 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, an incident occurred west of Golden, involving a west-bound Canadian Pacific train which was loaded with grain. Approximately 25 cars derailed.
No injuries have been sustained, and the damage to the track and the surrounding area is minimal. Rail service is hoped to be restored on at least one track by December 28, with some trains standing by and others having been re-routed via CN lines.
With the sight contained and clean-up efforts already significantly underway, more details will be released on a timely basis.
The cause of the incident has yet to be determined, and the investigation will continue.
