The Trans-Canada Highway re-opened west of Revelstoke around 11 p.m. after a lengthy closure that stranded travellers for hours on Sunday.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed from Craigellachie to Revelstoke due to a vehicle incident, DriveBC reports.

The crash took place 14 kilometres west of Revelstoke at about 3 p.m.

DriveBC says an assessment of the crash is in progress and an update will be provided at 6:30 p.m.

Unconfirmed reports over the radio scanner indicate highway rescue, RCMP and ambulance were called to the scene.

The reports indicate people may be trapped in a vehicle, however those have yet to be confirmed by officials.

DriveBC is also warning of a vehicle incident 13 kilometres east of Revelstoke, though there is no mention of a closure in that direction.
