Old Christmas trees are providing nutrition and distraction for goats at Agassiz Goat Dairy Ltd as they chomp down on discarded specimens from the holiday season.
These goats got a treat this new year with the dairy farm collecting about 25 Christmas trees to keep them occupied.
The family farm has had goats since about 2000, but this is the first year they’ve collected trees. The goats can eat a tree in as few as one or two hours.
The farm is still collecting trees but insists that they be clean so the goats don’t eat tinsel or chemicals. With nearly 1000 dairy goats there are plenty of nibblers to keep busy.
