More than 50 trucks lined Flood-Hope Road in front of the Husky truck stop Wednesday morning as Highway 1, 3 and 5 were closed in both directions east of Hope.

Truck traffic came to a standstill Tuesday night as Highways 1, 3, and 5 were shut down due to a high avalanche hazard in the mountain passes.

Semis were pulled over at the Hunter Creek scales, Highway 1 exits, and in Hope for hours as drivers waited out the closures.

Highway 3, between Hope and Princeton, reopened this morning at about 10:40 a.m.

The Coquihalla Highway reopened at about 1:10 p.m. today. Highway 1 remains closed in both directions four kilometres east of Yale. An avalanche risk assessment is in progress.

Updates will be posted as they become available.
