A driver hit a hydro pole with his truck in the 4100-block of Happy Valley Road just before 3 p.m. Saturday.
Multiple first responders were called to the scene.
Asst. Fire Chief Jason Humphries of Metchosin Fire said the power pole was broken at its base and lines are down, knocking out power to 1400 customers.

Happy Valley Road was closed to traffic in both directions for a short time, but has now re-opened.
BC Hydro crews are on scene working to restore power. The driver was located and the incident is still under investigation by police.
