If all goes well, Langford Fire Rescue could be in possession of a new truck in the coming weeks.
In initial discussions about this year’s budget, the department outlined the need to replace its heavy rescue truck, which is expected to cost roughly $535,000. In the meantime, the department found a used truck in the U.S. with very low mileage and has asked that council approve its purchase now instead of waiting for final budget approval.
At its meeting last week council approved the purchase, which is expected to have a total cost of roughly $440,000 with the old truck’s trade-in value.
