Trulsen memorial scholarship available

For hockey players from Ridge Meadows association going into the trades

Students can now apply for a scholarship created to memorialize Noah Trulsen.

Trulsen, 22, died after a fall while playing recreational men’s hockey in Langley in October. He was part of a popular family in the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association, and memorials included a charity hockey game to raise funds for the scholarship, and a social media tribute from his favourite former Vancouver Canuck Kevin Bieksa.

The Noah Trulsen Memorial Scholarship will be valued at $1,200. To be eligible, applicants must be a School District No. 42 graduate and Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association player who is pursuing a career in the trades.

Trulsen had just finished his final exam and become an electrician before his death.

Almost $20,000 has been raised to fund the scholarship, and there is a gofundme.com page to accept donations.

Applicants must have played within RMMHA for a minimum three years, and must provide three letters of reference from coaches and/or teachers demonstrating community involvement, leadership and humanity.

Applicants must also show proof of enrolment in an accredited trade program.

The deadline for applications will be April 30, and they can be sent by mail to Trinity Plumbing and Heating Co., 1271 East 41st, Vancouver, BC V5W 1R7 or by email to ntms2019@outlook.com

Trulsen’s parents will present the award to the recipient at their graduation ceremony.
