Tulameen residents whose houses have been flooded by Otter Lake were given cleaning kits by the Red Cross.
The kits include cleaning supplies, buckets and information on what must be thrown away.
The lake is receding, but basements are still under water.
If the lake floods again the water will come into town a lot faster because the ground is already wet, said Dale Kronebusch, emergency services supervisor for the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.
Warmer weather that could melt nearby snow packs or heavy rain would increase the risk of another flood.
An evacuation alert was issued for Tulameen on April 25, and is till in effect.
Otter Lake rose more than three feet last week, causing 81 out of 274 houses to flood.
