It’s official: Twelve are vying for six seats on council with the District of Sicamous.
As of 4 p.m. Friday, the deadline for nomination papers, there were 12 in the running for council and two for mayor.
In the mayoral race, current councillor Terry Rysz is up against former Sicamous mayor, Malcolm MacLeod.
Among those campaigning for a seat on council are incumbents Fred Busch, Charlotte Hutchinson, Don Richardson and Joan Thomson. Also in the running are Coleen Anderson, Gord Bushell, Todd Kyllo, Malcolm Makayev, Jeff Mallmes, Lynn Miller, Donna Mounce and Janna Simons.
Barry Chafe will be acclaimed as the Sicamous-Malakwa trustee with School District #83.
Columbia Shuswap Regional District Electoral Area E (Rural Sicamous-Malakwa) director Rhona Martin will be seeking to reclaim her seat at the board versus candidate Dan Letendre.
District of Sicamous candidates will be featured in next week’s Eagle Valley News, and will be responding to questions in the following weeks leading up to the Nov. 15 municipal election.
