Two people were arrested for the theft of a wallet in Castlegar on Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Chad Badry of RCMP West Kootenay Traffic said he was flagged down by the person whose wallet was stolen and was joined by a number of other RCMP officers who just happened to be nearby.
“We arrested a couple of people for theft,” he said. “And there were so many cars because the traffic unit is in town working on a distracted driving campaign, actually province-wide. So they came because they were all nearby.”
Members of the traffic unit were also spotted pulling over multiple vehicles later in the afternoon.
