Two books about Vanderhoof nominated for an award

The Jeanne Clark award is given out by the Prince George Library board annually

As the River Flows – Stories of Life Along the Nechako, has been nominated for an award by the Prince George Public Library.

The book is filled with local stories going back to the 1900s and was launched by the Nechako Valley Historical Society in Vanderhoof in May, 2019.

Other content in the book includes aerial photos, the sturgeon hatchery, air shows, barns, bridges and more. The images are supported by stories of the time.

Prince George Public Library Board announced the nominees for the 35th annual Jeanne Clarke Awards on Jan. 30. The awards were established by the board in 1985 in memory of a former library board chair Jeanne Clarke.

Another book about growing up in Vanderhoof and stories from the time called every little scrap and wonder by Carla Funk has also been nominated for this award.

The Jeanne Clark award is presented annually to individuals or groups for outstanding contributions in the preservation and promotion of local and regional history in the categories of publication and service.
