First responders and RCMP were called to a serious motor vehicle incident at the intersection of Kinchant Street and Carson Avenue downtown Quesnel at around 5:25 p.m tonight, July 27.
A car was turning left from Carson Avenue onto Kinchant when it was hit by a semi-truck trailer, police at the scene confirmed. The driver of the car was taken to hospital as a precaution, RCMP members at the scene told the Observer. The driver of the semi was unharmed.
Just 30 minutes later, at around 5:50 p.m., RCMP and first responders were called to a second collision at the intersection of Highway 97 and Cedar Avenue.
A car travelling south on the Highway was turning left onto Cedar and was hit by another car travelling north on the Highway. The driver of the northbound vehicle told the Observer he was uninjured. His passenger was being treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The southbound vehicle contained one driver and three passengers, including two children. All were being treated by paramedics at the scene but a first responder told the Observer they suffered only minor injuries.
